The will of Peter Pettman dated 23 November 1776:
"I Peter Petman of the Parish of Ickham in the County of Kent Husbandman being Aged and infirm in body but of sound Mind Memory and Understanding (praised be God for the same) Do publish and Declare this to be my last Will and Testament touching my Temporal Estate in manner and form following (that is to say) All and every of my Messuages or Tenements Moneys Household ffurniture and other goods and Chattells Rights Credits and Real and Personal Estate whatsoever subject to the payment of all my just Debts I give Devise and bequeath unto my son in Law John Tucker and my Daughter Elizabeth his wife their several Heirs Execrs. Adminrs. and Assigns for ever And I do hereby Revoke Annull and make Void All former and other Wills Devises Legacies and Bequests by me at any time or times heretofore made published and Declared In Witness whereof I the said Peter Petman have hereunto Set my hand and Seal the Second day of October In the seventh year of the Reign of George the Third now King of Great Britain and in the Year of our Lord Jesus Christ One Thousand and Seven Hundred and sixty seven Peter Petman Signed sealed and published and declared by the said Peter Petman the abovenamed Testator as and for his Last Will and Testament In the presence of us who in his presence have subscribed our names as witness hereunto - John Griggs. John Denn. Willm. Borvill John Sabine. The before Registred Will of Peter Petman deceased was proved the 23rd day of November 1776 before the Revd George Hearne Clerk Surrogate to the Worshipful Andrew Collee Tucarel Doctor of Laws Commissary General of the City and Diocese of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of John Tucker the Executor named in the said will he being first sworn well and truly to perform the same. "
