Spencer and Adelaide had at least six children - Edith Jessie Whitmore (born 1902), Frederick Spencer Whitmore (born 1904) and Alfred James Whitmore (born 1906), Bertram Whitmore (born 1912), Ruby G Whitmore (born 1917), Raymond Whitmore (born 1924).

Adelaide Whitmore (nee Horswill) was born in Shoeburyness, Essex in 1881 and died in Ipswich, Suffolk in late 1931 aged 51.

Spencer left £334 4s 9d to his widow Elizabeth Whitmore.
