From the MAIDSTONE TELEGRAPH of Saturday 7 October 1865:
John Donough was charged with stealing a cabbages from the garden of Thomas Bromley Sen., on the previous Tuesday, in the parish of East Farleigh.
Edward Charles Bromley deposed to seeing prisoner in company with some other men, pulling the cabbages from his father's garden. He ran after them and captured prisoner after he ran about 15 rods. He had pulled up 18 cabbages , the value of which was about 1s 6d.
Thomas Bromely, brother of previous witness confirmed the pulling up of the cabbages.
Six weeks hard labour.

(Harriet Prick was born in 1798 in Milton-Next-Sittingbourne, Kent, christened on 1 July 1798 in Milton-Next-Sittingbourne, Kent, died in 1887 in East Farleigh, Kent and was buried on 29 March 1887 in East Farleigh, Kent.)
