General Notes: In 1884 a pew was moved in the Boxford Church to find the stone of "William Doggett. It was found to be an altar tomb, having the inscription on a handsome black marble slab with four brasses engraved with arms on the four corners. The Inscription: Noted events in his life were: • Marriage: to Avis Lappage, 1 June 1591, Boxford, Suffolk. William married Avis Lappage, daughter of Thomas Lappage and Agnes Gale, on 1 June 1591 in Boxford, Suffolk. (Avis Lappage was born in 1568 in Groton, Suffolk, christened on 1 August 1568 in Groton, Suffolk, died in June 1652 in Boxford, Suffolk and was buried on 27 June 1652 in Boxford, Suffolk.) |
