Robert de Vere was the 6th Earl of Oxford and as his only son Thomas died before him his nephew John de Vere became the 7th Earl of Oxford.

• Marriage: to Margaret Mortimer.
Robert married Margaret Mortimer, daughter of Roger de Mortimer and Gwladys Verch Llewellyn. (Margaret Mortimer was born in 1262 in Ludlow, Herefordshire, died in 1296 in Hedingham Castle, Essex and was buried in Grey Friars, Ipswich.)
