DORSET ARCHDEACONRY COURT WILL AD/DT/W/1671/87 JOHN EYRES Date of Probate: 9th November 1671
"In the name of God Amen. This is the last will and testament of I John Eyres of Renscombe, [in the Parish of Worth Matravers] in the County of Dorset as followeth vizt.
First of all I commit my soule into the handes of my gratious God who created it & redeemed it by the precious blood of his owne son Jesus Christ.
Also commend my body to the Earth whence it was taken in assurance of the resurrection thereof unto glory.
Also I give to the poore fortie Shillings to be distributed at my funeral with special regard to bee had to the par. of Worth att the discretion of mine executor & overseers
Also I give to my loving wife fiftie pounds to be paid unto her within twelve months after my decease with the other monies which I covenanted in marriage to give her. & also I give to her my wearing gold ring.
Also I give to my sonn John Eyres in liue of my promise made to him at the time of his marriage concerning a tenement in Kimbridge, my farme of Kingswood hee paying the Annuety I have granted out of it for the better livelyhood of my wife.
Also I doe give to my daughter Alice Dolling filte pounds & to her & to her husband & to their eldest sonn Henry, to each a gold ring of ten shillings price & to their five younger sonns, to each tenn pounds.
Also I doe give to my daughter Sarah Collins my watch & to her and her husband to each a gold ring of tenn shillings price.
Also I give to my daughter Dolling and my Daughter Collins to each of them a feather bed and bolster.
Also I do give to my daughter Collins her three daughters Elizabeth, Martha and Mary, to each five pounds to be paid at their marriage or at their age of one and twentie years which shall first happen.
Also I doe give to my grandaughter Joyce Tito five pounds to bee paid to her at her age of eighteen years if then living.
Also I doe give to my wife' s children vizt. to her owne sonns, to each of them a gold ring of tenn shillings price, to her daughter Elianor a gold ring of tenn shillings price & to her younger daughters five pounds each & if God should please that my wife should decease before mee, then I doe give to her two daughters, Ann & Elizabeth Man, to each seventie pounds more.
Also I doe give to my daughter in law Sarah Eyres, a gold ring of tenn shillings price, and to my grandson John Eyres fortie pounds and my silver inkecase.
Also I doe give to my grandchildren Mary Eyres, Sarah Eyres and Samuel Eyres each twentie pounds.
Also I doe give to my two grandaughters Sarah Gaich & Mary Culliford, to each a gold ring of tenn shillings price.
Also I give to Richard Adams twentie shillings, to Steven Udall twenty shillings, to William Hardin tenn shillings, to Robert Phippard tenn shillings & to all my household servants that shall be living with mee att my decease, to each of them tenn shillings, all which to bee paid within twentie moneths after my decease.
Also my will is that of any of my grandchildren dye before their legaceise become due, that then it shall be equally divided between their brothers and sisters surviving.And it is my intent & meaning that all the legacies above mentioned to which noe particular time of payment is prefixed shall bee paid within three moneths after the expiration of my lease in Renscombe Farme, which I now hold, only that the interest shall be paid for them when twelve moneths are expired after my decease.
As touching the residue of my goods & chattles not given & bequeathed wherewith it hath pleased God to endue mee my just debts & legacies first paid & my funerall discharged, I doe give and bequeath unto my sonn John Eyres, whom I do make & ordaine my full & whole executor of this my last will & testament and I doe make & ordaine my sons in law Mr. Henry Dolling & Mr. William Collins to be my overseers & that they will be pleased to see this my last will & testament performed according to my true intent and meaning & for their paines therein I doe give to each of them fortie shillings to bee paid within three moneths after my decease And in testimony that this is my last will I have hereunto putt my hand and scale the sixteenth day of March & the yeare of our Lord one thousand six hundred and seventy." Memorandum that I, John Eyres the above mentioned testator doe by these presents declare that it is my mind and meaning that in case my goods and chattelIs if I shall dye possessed of besides the lease of Kingswood Farm shall not upon a just account of my executor bee found sufficient to discharge & pay all the legacies herein by mee bequeathed when my debts and moderate funerall expenses are first discharged, then the severall legacies above mentioned shall receive each of them a proportional part as far as the said goods and chattelIs shall extend and noe more. witness my hand N ......... 5 1671 John Eyres In the presence of Fra:Lewis
