From the Boxford Churchwardens Accounts:
John Brond is paid for making obligations in 1544. Has a loan and pays interest 1560-1. His father was Richard Brond q.v. John Brond was assessed at £8 in goods in 1568.
John was a wealthy clothier who bought the manor of Boxford from Sir William Waldegrave for £900 in 1587 and acquired Polstead later.
An inscripition on a brass says: "John Brond, 1610, ret. 76. He had two wives, and left by either divers children".
John's will is dated 16 December 1608 and names wife Anne, sons Robert, Jacob, Samuel, James, Richard (late son), Benjamin and John Brond, daughters Abigail, Amy, Susan Brond, daughters Mary Alabaster, Bridget Freshwater; late brother William Brond; sons in law Richard Freshwater and John Alabaster.

John married Mary Luffkeyn, daughter of Robert Luffkeyn and Anne Unknown, on 9 October 1559 in Boxford, Suffolk. (Mary Luffkeyn died in 1577 in Boxford, Suffolk and was buried on 16 July 1577 in Boxford, Suffolk.)
