General Notes:
Sir William Cooke held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Great Yarmouth from 1685 to 1687 and for Norfolk from 1689 to 1695 and 1698 to 1700. He gained the title of Baronet Cooke, of Brome Hall, Norfolk on 29th June 1663.
Sir William Cooke was educated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge from 8 December 1647. He was admited at Middle Temple on June 12, 1645 and Gray's Inn in 1648.
William Cooke married Jane Steward at Bradwell which is in Norfolk but prior to 1972 it was in Suffolk.
Sir William Cooke is buried buried at Cranworth in Norfolk. His epitaph proclaims him an avowed defender of monarchy and hierarchy, ‘equally unaffected by the wicked artifices of rabid Papists and schismatics'.
