Lord (Sir) John de Cobham
General Notes: In 1320 John de Cobham became Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports and constable of Dover Castle, succeeding his father in both positions. In 1334 he was appointed, along with his father, constable of Rochester Castle. The following year he was made Admiral for the region west of the Thames. After 1350, he served in Parliament for districts in Kent. Noted events in his life were: • Marriage: to Joan de Beauchamp, 1341, Cobham, Kent. • Marriage: to Agnes Stone, 1350, Cobham, Kent. John married Joan De Beauchamp in 1314 in Cobham, Kent. (Joan De Beauchamp was born in 1298 in Hatch Beauchamp, Somerset and died in 1347 in Cobham, Kent.) |
