Sir James Butler
General Notes: James Butler was the 2nd Earl of Ormond. He was usually called The Noble Earl, being a great-grandson of King Edward I of England and was Lord Justice of Ireland in 1359, 1364, and 1376. Noted events in his life were: • Marriage: to Elizabeth Darcy, 15 May 1346, Kilkenny, Kilkenny, Ireland. James married Elizabeth Darcy, daughter of Sir John Darcy and Joan de Burgh, on 15 May 1346 in Kilkenny, Kilkenny, Ireland. (Elizabeth Darcy was born in 1332 in Knaith, Lincolnshire and died on 24 March 1390 in Kilkenny, Kilkenny, Ireland.) |
