The Parish Register for christenings show a George and Betsy Whitman as parents of Charles, Annie and Walter all christened at the same time. On the register George has then been crossed out and Betsy is noted as a single woman.
Betsy also had a son and two daughters all born in Tuddenham, Suffolk. John Robert Whitman in 1856, Martha and Mary Melbourn Whitman both in 1858. All three were christned at Tuddenham St Martin on 12 August 1860.
Betsy and her children Martha and John are living with her brothers Samuel, Daniel and John at the time on the 1861 census.
