General Notes: As part of her role, Lady Shelton was also placed in charge of her niece’s (Queen Anne Boleyn) stepdaughter, Princess Mary, who refused to recognise the royal marriage. Noted events in her life were: • Marriage: to Sir John Shelton, 1496, Shelton, Norfolk. Anne married Sir John Shelton, son of Sir Ralph Shelton and Lady Margaret Clere, in 1496. (Sir John Shelton was born in 1477 and died on 21 December 1539.) |
