Roger built the border castle he called Caux Castle after the area in Normandy which the family came from. Two of his brothers stayed in Normandy, Hugh and Reynaud, where they carried on the family name and honor. Roger with brother Robert and father Hugh, fought at the Battle of Hastings when William invaded.
