Lady Sybil Corbet
(1099-1157) |
Lady Sybil Corbet
General Notes: Lady Sybilla Corbet of Alcester was born in 1077 in Alcester in Warwickshire. She married Herbert FitzHerbert, son of Herbert 'the Chamberlain' of Winchester and Emma de Blois. She died after 1157 and was also known as Adela (or Lucia) Corbet. Sybil was definitely mother of Sybil and Rainald, possibly also of William and Rohese. Some sources suggest that there was another daughter by this relationship, Gundred, but it appears that she was thought as such because she was a sister of Reginald de Dunstanville but it appears that that was another person of that name who was not related to this family. Noted events in her life were: • Marriage: to Herbert Fitz Herbert, 1127, Winchester, Hampshire. Sybil married King Henry I De Falaise in They Never Married. (King Henry I De Falaise was born on 21 February 1069 in Selby, North Yorkshire, christened on 5 August 1100 in Selby, North Yorkshire, died on 1 December 1135 in Lyons-La-Foret, Eure, France and was buried on 4 December 1135 in Reading Abbey, Reading, Berkshire.) The cause of his death was Food Poisoning. Sybil next married Herbert Fitz Herbert, son of Herbert of Winchester and Emma of Blois, in 1127 in Winchester, Hampshire. (Herbert Fitz Herbert was born in 1100 in Winchester, Hampshire and died in 1154 in Winchester, Hampshire.) |
